FAQs

Straight answers to common finance questions.

What does a mortgage broker do?

We help clarify your borrowing needs, assess suitable loan options from our available panel, explain the differences and manage the application process with you.

Does using a broker cost more?

For many residential loans, the lender pays the broker a commission. Fees can apply in some situations and will be disclosed before you proceed. Loan pricing and costs depend on the lender and product selected.

How much can I borrow?

It depends on your income, employment, deposit, expenses, existing debts, dependants and the assessment policy of each lender. An online calculator is only a guide.

Should I choose fixed or variable?

That depends on your priorities. Variable loans may offer flexibility, fixed loans can provide repayment certainty, and a split loan can combine aspects of both.

Can you help me if I am outside Queensland?

Yes. LifeStream Finance is Sunshine Coast based and can work with clients across Australia using phone, video and secure digital processes, subject to lender and licensing requirements.

Which lenders do you work with?

As Connective brokers, we have access to a broad panel of lenders. The available and suitable options will depend on your individual circumstances.

Who sets interest rates?

The Reserve Bank of Australia sets the cash-rate target. Individual lenders set their own lending rates based on funding costs, risk, competition and other commercial considerations.
